Hanley Economic Building Society (HEBS) is a long-established Midlands-based mutual who approached Whitecap to lead their search for a new core banking and origination systems provider.

Whitecap’s brief was to create maximum customer value, resilience and operational benefit from system improvements. Whitecap initially completed a strategic review before delivering a core banking refresh project. The strategic review helped ensure that the business’ senior team had a very clear and consistent view of customer, commercial and operational priorities and direction for the years ahead. This enabled them to assess provider fit in a highly informed and business-led (rather than technology-led) fashion. The supplier selection and systems refresh project consisted of a business requirements analysis, IT systems review, supplier consultation process and tender process. Whitecap also assisted HEBS choosing their preferred supplier, helping with commercial, legal and service level negotiations

“After three years of record-breaking financial performance we acknowledged that we had maximised the capacity of our current banking system. The contract had been in place for twenty five years and we had an imperative to update our model Whitecap helped us realise that our systems requirements should flow from the corporate plan. Whitecap then helped us refresh our strategy and the systems requirements were driven from this work. We are now able to embark on a major transformation of the business with the confidence that the outcome will provide a basis on which to achieve our strategic goals.”
