PRESS RELEASE: Regional strategy consulting firm Whitecap Consulting has opened its sixth UK office in Birmingham and has further strengthened its senior team with the appointment of David Mellor as Associate Director for the Midlands.

Established in 2012, Whitecap helps clients analyse, develop and implement growth strategies, supporting clients typically located outside London. Headquartered in Leeds, the firm expanded its regional presence by opening offices in Manchester and Milton Keynes in 2017, and Newcastle and Bristol offices were added last year.

Whitecap is already engaged in client work in the region, including having been engaged by Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership to conduct an analysis of the FinTech ecosystem in the West Midlands. It also counts Dudley Building Society amongst its current clients. The Birmingham office is located in Alpha Works in Alpha Tower, a vibrant hub in the centre of Birmingham.

Richard Coates, Managing Director of Whitecap Consulting, says:

We are very pleased to have opened a Birmingham office, and I’m delighted that David is helping drive our regional expansion in the Midlands. David’s background, skills, experience and attitude all complement the team very well. He has immediately engaged with regional stakeholders on a range of engagements across our practice areas. To complement this, we are also adding a new sector based on David’s experience in Logistics; a sector, which like many others, has and is experiencing considerable change and disruption.”

David Mellor, Associate Director at Whitecap Consulting says:

I’m proud to have joined Whitecap and I hope our launch in the Midlands can contribute to the optimistic mood of the region, recently encapsulated by Birmingham Tech Week, and the many positive changes going on in the area. I have been struck by the energy, openness and determination of the region’s stakeholders and am looking forward to bringing a new specialism to the Whitecap team in logistics, a dynamic and critical driver of both the regional and national economy.”

Jeremy Wood, CEO, Dudley Building Society added:

Dudley Building Society engaged Whitecap in late 2018 to help us define and articulate our strategy.  A short timescale for completion was set and met. Further work has been agreed since and we now count Whitecap amongst our key advisors. As an important and developing region for financial services, we’re delighted that Whitecap has chosen Birmingham for its new location.”

Whitecap works with mid-sized organisations and divisions of corporate businesses across multiple sectors including: Financial Services, Technology, FinTech, Consumer and Retail, Higher Education, Manufacturing, Healthcare and Inward Investment.

Clients typically have growth ambitions and require support with the analysis, planning and implementation of these strategies, whether these are over a 3-month or a 3-year planning horizon.

The firm also works with PE and Corporate Finance partners with pre-transaction planning, commercial due diligence and post transaction strategy support.

Whitecap’s recent clients across the UK have included: Co-op Group, Clydesdale Yorkshire Banking Group, Department of International Trade, Dudley Building Society, Hanley Economic Building Society, Infinity Works, London South Bank University, Maven Capital Partners, OCS, Open University, Unisys, University of York, YFM, and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
