David is a successful business developer and consultant, with 30 years’ experience.

After beginning his career with shipping & services multi-national P&O, David left to become one of the driving forces behind transforming a niche logistics provider into a sector-leading defence services specialist, delivering long-term contractual strategic partnerships with major defence providers. As BD Director, David developed the strategic proposition to secure institutional investment through a private-equity backed MBO, and prepare for a successful exit. Following acquisition by Wincanton plc, David integrated the business and helped establish it as one of the most successful divisions in the wider business.  David left to undertake an MBA at the Birmingham Business School, after which he became a director of a management consultancy working to improve organisational culture in defence, nuclear and power-generation sectors.

Since leaving to focus on strategic consultancy, David has subsequently advised and supported Wincanton to drive diversification into new sectors and helped numerous early-stage technology businesses deliver successful growth plans. He is an active angel investor and has been a Non-Executive Director at early stage businesses in Internet of Things, Sports Technology and Agrotech sectors.

David’s varied career has given him hands-on experience in long-term strategic growth planning, proposition development, logistics transformation, tender responses, sector, country and market entry, investment pitches, organisational / cultural change, business planning and commercial due diligence.

David’s business experience is supported by his academic track record, and an ongoing sense of curiosity.  Having initially graduated from Oxford University, he subsequently won the Priorsfield  Prize for his MBA performance at the Birmingham Business School, and has maintained a strong interest and active alumni involvement in the Business School and wider University of Birmingham
