Julian has over 19 years experience working within Financial Services across both the Banking and Mutual sector.
He is known for his strategic thinking and ability to translate strategies into clear and compelling implementation plans. A very customer and people oriented business leader, his specialisms include the development of growth and business improvement plans and turnaround initiatives at a corporate & business unit level and across all distribution channels, defining, shaping & delivering strategic and BAU change in addition to leading and developing large teams across multiple locations.
He also has extensive experience of working with senior executives and Boards, creating new operating models, re-structuring existing businesses, building robust business cases, improving commercial and operational performance, increasing customer satisfaction, transforming customer experiences, designing M&A screening frameworks, undertaking commercial due diligence, reducing operating costs, leading teams & individuals through change, changing organisational cultures & behaviours and coaching & developing individuals and teams to realise their potential.
Julian spent 8 years working for Santander UK where previous roles included being Divisional Commercial and Operations Director in the Retail Bank, Head of Strategic Business Development, Head of Costs and Head of Strategy, IR & Planning. Prior to joining Santander, he spent 12 years at Bradford & Bingley in a number of senior leadership roles including Director of International and Director of Multi-Channel.
Away from work, Julian enjoys running with his two dogs, cycling and skiing. He is also Chair of two local charities and is an active fundraiser for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund.
Julian holds an MBA from Manchester Business School, an MA in Marketing from the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside and is also an Associate member of The Chartered Institute of Marketing.
