Tom is an experienced senior executive holding Board level positions in the financial services and consumer services sectors. Tom is n holistic thinker who excels at translating strategies into impactful transformation programmes which achieve commercial and operational goals.
Tom’s holistic and outcome-oriented approach to business change have transformed the businesses that he has worked for. His ability to shape strategy grounded in business realities and work with peers across all business functions produces programmes that teams can both buy into and deliver.
Tom played a leading role in the transformation of Co-op Insurance from 2013-15, stabilising the business through increasing revenue from £343m to £439m and resetting its strategy. Core achievements in Strategy and Transformation Director roles included setting the business vision and strategy, leading the tendering for a full technology re-platform and managed service, defining the business and operating models and setting out the transformation programme and proposition roadmap. This covered all elements of the business.
His most recent role was as Strategic Relationships Director for Co-op Funeralcare Legal Services, accountable for all external relations, business strategy and the B2B P&L.
Prior to these, Tom was Head of Business Management for Co-op Insurance accountable for the strategic planning, change management, risk and governance for the business. Before this, he was Head of Operational Transformation for Co-op Banking Group’s Shared Services function and has also held roles in Strategy and Programme management. He started his career at United Utilities holding Business Development roles in the M&A function.
Tom is now an independent business consultant specialising in shaping strategy and delivering transformational change.
He is Chair of the Ethics Board for Ninety, a Community Interest Company, a school governor at Co-op Academy Manchester, and mentor to charity CEOs through Inspire. Tom holds an Executive MBA from Manchester Business School.
